Ever dreamed of a refreshing, natural, and easy-to-prepare iced tea? Two passionate innovators, Sonia and Nicolas Droz, took on the challenge with Siroscope – a Neuchâtel-based company that’s revolutionizing the way we enjoy tea. Their secret? A locally produced organic tea concentrate in syrup form, crafted with care for the environment and your well-being.
Discover their journey, their values, and the challenges they’ve overcome to make Siroscope a must-know brand in Switzerland’s world of fine flavors.

Can you tell us how the idea for Siroscope was born?

Siroscope was born from a love of iced tea and a desire to offer a practical, eco-friendly alternative. Brewing several liters of homemade tea takes time and space – so the idea of creating a concentrated tea syrup came naturally.
From the very beginning, it was clear that avoiding plastic at every stage of production and using only organic ingredients was essential to stay true to our commitment to the environment.

What were your professional backgrounds before taking over Siroscope?

Sonia spent 12 years working in a Neuchâtel vineyard, where she was in charge of communication, sales, and event planning. This experience taught her how to shape a company’s image while deepening her love for local products and traditions.
Nicolas spent around ten years in the watchmaking industry, managing a network of retail stores. Although the sector was different, he developed strong skills in sales strategy and business management – all of which are proving invaluable today.

Why did you decide to take over a business together?

We met in 2011 and wanted to take on a shared challenge. We knew our skills complemented each other well, which makes it easy to divide responsibilities. We spend a lot of time together, but we’ve learned how to maintain a healthy balance. Each of us has our own area of expertise – and that’s essential to keeping the business running smoothly.

What products does Siroscope offer?

We produce organic tea syrup. We have five classic flavors available year-round, along with limited editions based on the seasons. We love experimenting with new tastes, often inspired by our own homemade creations. Starting next spring, we’re also launching a ready-to-drink iced tea in two different flavors!

What’s unique about your production process?

We carefully respect the ideal steeping temperatures for each tea to preserve its delicate aromas. We use no preservatives or artificial colorings, and all our bottles are returnable to minimize waste. On top of using water known for its exceptional quality, we only work with certified organic ingredients – including beet sugar, chosen specifically to reduce our food miles.

Did you face any challenges when taking over the company?

Yes, especially in terms of distribution. The founders worked in a very exclusive and highly local way with a small network of partners. We had to expand that network while maintaining the strong relationships that were already in place. It also took time to adapt to the overall management of the company, all while staying true to our ecological and artisanal values.

What are your development goals?

Our aim is to strengthen our presence in Switzerland, particularly in the German-speaking regions, before exploring international opportunities. We already have contacts in France, the UK, and even Asia. That said, we want to move forward carefully and are considering exporting production to stay aligned with our values of keeping consumption as local as possible.

How do you work with the service of the economy of the canton of Neuchâtel?

We discovered their services through other entrepreneurs. Their advice has been incredibly valuable, especially when it comes to entering new markets. It’s reassuring to be able to rely on knowledgeable partners who can support us in developing our projects.

How do you think the canton of Neuchâtel could better support entrepreneurs?

Access to financing remains an area for improvement. The first years are often financially challenging, especially for young entrepreneurs with little starting capital. We were fortunate to rely on our professional experience, but this is not the case for everyone. Better financial support would be a real asset.

What advice would you give to those wanting to start their own?

You need to believe in your project, be persistent, and not let obstacles discourage you. It’s business also important not to compare yourself to the success stories you see on social media. Success takes a lot of hard work, discipline, and endurance. Nothing happens by chance.

How can people discover your products?

Our syrups are available in several cafés, bistros, hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, and shops across French-speaking Switzerland. We also have an online store (www.siroscope.ch) with the full list of our products and points of sale.
